Dufan is a fun park located in Ancol, North Jakarta, Indonesia. It is similar to the Disneyland or the Universal Studio. It has many attractions and fun rides that you can enjoy if you have one day to spend in Jakarta. Dufan is short for "Dunia Fantasi" or in English: "Fantasy World"

The great coincidence about the name Dufan is that it is pronounced as "Do Fun". So you can say that you go to Dufan to "do fun".

Dufan is situated inside the large recreational and entertainment complex in Ancol, an area by the shore of North Jakarta. The complex is known as "Taman Impian Jaya Ancol" or in English: "Jaya Ancol Dream Park". In the recreational complex, other than Dufan, they have several hotels and a sea-side cottage, a golf course, the Atlantis Water Park, the SeaWorld, the Samudra Dolphin Attraction, and many more.

Now, back to Dufan. The fun park Dufan has many rides and attractions for the young and old. Children can enjoy safe rides like the large carousel, while teenagers and adults can enjoy the more thrilling rides, like the roller coaster. Rides that you can find at Dufan:

Bianglala: it's a big ferris wheel where you can sit at the end of one of the giant spokes, and as it takes you high up, you can see the beautiful view of the sea to the north and the land to the south.

Kora-Kora: this ride is a giant ship that swings you to and from, up and down. Some of the riders actually reach a perpendicular position to the ground. It is commonly known as "The Pirate Ship". As you are taken high up, and the swing changes direction, you are bound to feel weightlessness.

Hysteria: in this ride, you sit and are taken very high up a large column, then the ride drops you as if you were falling down fast.

Istana Boneka: it's the Doll Palace, where there are hundreds of large-sized animatronic dolls. This is the equivalent of "It's a Small World" in Disneyland. It's suitable for children.

Tornado: the Top Spin, as it is more widely known, induces very high gravity accelerations. You'll get the thrill of your life here.

... and many more rides and attractions.

The entrance fee to Dufan is Rp 180,000 (around US$ 21) on week-ends or Rp 150,000 (around US$ 18) on week-days. If you are a fun-loving person and never get  kooralive tired of fun rides, you can always buy an annual pass which would be quite a saving if you plan to go there very often.

If you're in Jakarta, with around US$ 45, you can grab a cab, go to Ancol and spend one whole day at Dufan. When you finish, there will be plenty of taxis waiting at the exit of Dufan, so you don't have to worry about getting back to your hotel. With that amount, you should have enough to cover Ancol and Dufan entrance fees and the taxi fares plus meals.
